Longowal, Sangrur | 18–19 August 2025

On 18–19 August 2025, techcadd took part as a skill partner at SLIET Techfest 2025 at the Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal. Founder Mr. Gourav Gupta interacted with students and shared insights on the evolving role of artificial intelligence in the workplace and across industries.

Topics included AI as a tool for productivity, human skills alongside AI-assisted work, emerging technologies and industry transformation, innovation and business growth, and continuous learning and career readiness in the AI era. The fest gave techcadd a chance to connect with aspiring professionals and promote awareness of emerging technologies.

Why AI at the workplace matters for engineers

  • A productivity toolDrafting, summarising, debugging and data cleaning get faster — time saved counts only if the output is verified.
  • Human skills alongside AIJudgement, communication, teamwork, ethics and creativity are hard to automate.
  • Industry transformationManufacturing, energy, construction, healthcare and finance are adopting AI.
  • InnovationSmall teams test ideas faster; understanding customers and costs still decides success.

Industry-relevant skills

  • Branch fundamentals: mathematics, physics, circuits, mechanics, materials or programming.
  • Programming and data handling — Python is a common start.
  • The tools of your field: CAD, simulation, circuit design, embedded systems or analytics.
  • Critical thinking, communication and a weekly habit of learning.

Getting the most from a techfest

Join a team event, enter a project competition, attend talks and speak with sponsors and partners. Afterwards, write down what you learned, follow up with people you met and turn one idea into a small project.

A twelve-week plan after a techfest

  • Weeks one to three: learn the basics of one theme that interested you.
  • Weeks four to six: build a small prototype or analysis.
  • Weeks seven to nine: test it, record failures and improve it.
  • Weeks ten to twelve: write it up and share it for feedback.

Responsible use of AI

Follow your institute’s policy, verify important claims and be clear about what you built yourself.

“Engineers who can explain trade-offs and work with people become more valuable, not less.”
